Indian Army Day - January 15

 


Indian Army Day is celebrated on January 15 every year to commemorate the day when General K.M Cariappa took over as the first Indian Commander-in-chief of the Indian Army from General Sir Francis Butcher in 1949. The day is celebrated to honor our soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect the country and its citizens.

Army Day celebrated every year by organizing special parades and other military shows in the national capital New Delhi as well as in all Headquarters. Soldiers are also awarded with Gallantry awards and sena medals on the day. 

Theme of Indian Army Day for the year 2022 was "In Stride with the future."
